| Welcome to our web-site. As the
Hub-of-the-Plains, Lubbock County is the economic, education, social and political center
of the Southern High Plains of the United States. Lubbock is also listed in some studies as the most "Republican" county in the U.S.A. -- quite a feat for a county having no GOP county-wide officials until 1980. As of this time, all county-wide office holders are Republicans and no Democrat represents more than one county precinct. |

the following political divisions: Federal: 19th Congressional Districts of Texas How do I become a Republican in Texas? In Texas, registering as a Republican is done by voting in the Republican Primary Election held each even-numbered year in March. Texas has an open primary system in which all registered voters are allowed to participate. However, a voter may only vote in one Party's primary. You may not vote, or participate, in more than one political party's primary election. How does one participate in local party affairs? In three ways: First, anyone who has voted in the Republican Primary, either on election day or through early voting, may attend and participate in their voting precinct's Precinct Convention which will begin within an hour after the polls close. The convention is normally held in the same location as the election. A sign will be posted at each voting location, on primary election day, showing the time and location of that precinct's convention. It is through this process that one becomes a delegate to the County, or District, Convention. Second, any registered voter may file, directly with the party's county chairman or secretary, an application to be placed on the ballot as a candidate for Precinct Chairman for the voter's precinct of residence. Filing deadlines may be obtained by contacting the party offices. Precinct Chairman, different from Precinct Convention Chairman, are elected by the voters of their precinct and serve a two-year term as members of the County Executive Committee. Third, during an Election season the party maintains an office with staff. A person wishing to be notified of candidate visits, party events or wanting to volunteer for party work, should contact a staff member at the party headquarters and supply his name, address, telephone and fax numbers and e-mail address.
