Mabel Anice Crump McCall of Cleburne, Texas.
He lived at Grand Gulf in Claiborne County, according to Mrs. Raymond
Johnson, a McCall researcher of Shreveport.
He was married in 1844 to Virginia Ann Hallin in Claiborne County. He was remarried January 8, 1849 to Hester
Ann "Hettie" Ferguson. She
was born September 7, 1830 and died in 1860.
She was buried in Ferguson Cemetery located 19 miles west of Hazelhurst,
Mississippi, according to a letter written March 25, 1974 by Dr. John A.
McCall, optometrist, a descendant of Crockett, Texas. He wrote, "I heard that one of his ancestors was a Duncan
McCall."
John Peck McCall was shown at
"age 37" in the 1860 census of Copiah County. He was married for the third time December
19, 1861 to Sarah Jane Ritchey. He
enlisted in Company E, Fourth Mississippi Cavalry Regiment September 2,
1863. He survived the war only to die
of disease on his way home afterward.

Hugh McCall was an early
resident of Hinds County in the vicinity of Learned, Mississippi, about 20
miles southeast of Jackson, Mississippi.
He was born February 18, 1781, according to his tombstone located in
Morrison Cemetery near Learned. The
Morrison Family Cemetery was apparently named for Alexander Morrison and his
wife, Margaret Morrison. Alexander
Morrison, "died June 24, 1834, age 37 years, 11 months," and Margaret
Morrison, "consort of Alexander Morrison, died December 1, 1836, age 44
years," were apparently the earliest burials there.

1836 to Miranda Reynolds, according to Hinds County Marriage Book 1, page
443. Alexander Coleman was the
bondsman.
John McCall wrote his will
December 10, 1837 in Hinds County. It
was filed for probate May 7, 1838. The
document read:
"In the Name of God, Amen.
I, John McCall of the County of
Hinds in the State of Mississippi being mindfull of my mortality and being in
very bad health, hereby revoking all others, do make, ordain, publish and
declare this my last Will & Testament in the manner following:
First it is my will &
desire that out of the property, real and personal, of which I may die seized
& possessed, all my just and lawful debts should be paid.
Secondly, it is my will and
desire that all my remaining property should remain in the possession of my
wife Miranda McCall for her use and benefit, unless their should or may be an
heir, the issue of the marriage of myself and my wife Miranda; in that case it
is my will and desire that the property both real & personal should be
equally divided between my wife Miranda & the heir above mentioned.
Thirdly, it is my will and
desire that a negro Girl Liby now in the possession of my Mother Christian
McCall may be bought by my Executrix & Executor here after to be named and
given to my Mother above named, if she can be bought; if she cannot be bought
it is my will and desire that some other good negro woman should be bought and
given to my mother above named, and it is my will and desire that the above
named Negro Girl Liby if bought and if another is bought in her place shall be
and remain in the possession of my Mother Christian McCall for her sole use
& benefit during her natural life and at her death to return into the
possession of my Wife Miranda for her use and benefit and the use and benefit of
this issue of our marriage; if any there should be, if the above Negro Girl or
woman have issue the issue to return to my estate as above.
Fourthly, it is my will and
desire that after my Wife Miranda shall take her choice of my horses, then my
brother Hugh McCall shall take his choice of a horse.
