David Kension Whitmire, son of
Jesse Whitmire and Nancy Durden Whitmire, was born in 1822 in Washington
Parish, Louisiana. He was married in
1840 in Louisiana, wife's name Mary.
He received a Third Class Land
Grant, H.R. No. 402 August 1, 1842 for 320 acres, according to the research of
Patricia Ann "Patty" Bennett McGinty. The land was later surveyed in Rusk County, Texas and was sold to
James W. Brown for $55 March 25, 1850.
The property was resold August 4, 1853.
